Provenance..

The Alan Mann 68 Edition continues a racing story that began in 1968, when Alan Mann Racing, in partnership with Ford, developed the Escort Mk1 that would go on to win the British Touring Car Championship.

Those cars with the registration prefix of " XOO 34*F" established a benchmark for touring car engineering, combining balance, precision and durability in a way that redefined saloon car competition.

The 68 Edition is a continuation of that exact programme. Each car is based on a genuine Ford Escort platform, engineered by DRVN and assembled by Alan Mann Racing — the same name and lineage responsible for the original works cars.

Unlike reinterpretations, this project is built directly from the original car’s geometry, philosophy and engineering intent, creating a direct link to the chassis and methods that defined the 1968 championship-winning programme.

Official Ford Programme..

The Alan Mann 68 Edition is an officially licensed Ford Motor Company product, developed in collaboration with Ford’s heritage and motorsport divisions.

Each car is assigned an official Ford-recognised chassis identity, reinforcing its position within the wider Ford Motorsport legacy.

This formal endorsement confirms:

Authentic engineering lineage
Direct association with Ford’s historic competition programme
Status as a factory-recognised continuation model

Engineering & Development..
DRVN Advanced Engineering

Development of the 68 Edition began with 3D laser scanning of XOO 349F, the original works Escort.

This data was translated into a full CAD model, allowing the bodyshell to be recreated with absolute dimensional accuracy while refining tolerances beyond 1960s production capabilities.

DRVN Toolroom

Each bodyshell is fabricated using precision jigs derived from this CAD data, ensuring:

Structural consistency
Accurate geometry
Repeatability across all 24 cars

The result is a shell that remains visually identical to the original, but engineered to modern standards of accuracy.

Alan Mann Racing

Final assembly takes place at Alan Mann Racing’s facility in Chobham, Surrey, close to the team’s original base in Byfleet.

Oversight includes input from Jim Rose, one of the original Alan Mann Racing fabricators responsible for building the 1960s works Escorts — providing a direct human link between the original programme and this continuation series.

Chassis & Suspension..

The 68 Edition retains the unique Group 5 suspension architecture developed in period, influenced by Alan Mann Racing’s work with the Ford GT40 programme.

Key features include:

Sliding joint MacPherson strut front suspension

KONI 2-way adjustable dampers

Compression struts and bespoke mounting points

Adjustable rose-jointed lower arms

Rigid rear axle with Watts linkage

Torsion bar rear suspension system

This configuration delivers precise handling characteristics with clear mechanical feedback, remaining faithful to the original competition design.

Driving Experience..

The Alan Mann 68 Edition is engineered as a pure competition car, built without compromise for road use.

With no electronic systems, assisted steering or driver aids, every input is direct and mechanical.

The combination of low weight, balanced chassis and responsive Twin Cam engine delivers what is best described as a pure analogue driving experience, closely aligned to historic touring car competition.

DRVN Ultra Series & Ownership..

The 68 Edition forms part of the DRVN Ultra Series, representing the most exclusive level of production within the programme.

Limited to just 24 cars, ownership includes access to the Boreham High Performance Club, offering:

Driver development and licence support

Trackside engineering assistance

Access to curated track and historic racing events

Technical and logistical support from Alan Mann Racing

Ownership therefore extends beyond the vehicle itself into a structured motorsport programme.

Current Condition..

Brand new and unused, presented in as-built condition.

Key highlights include:

Delivery mileage only

Built to exacting modern tolerances

Period-correct finish and detailing throughout

Supplied ready for circuit use

Constructed without restoration, modification or alteration — as delivered by the Alan Mann Racing programme.

Summary..

AMR 68 Chassis No.2 represents one of just 24 Alan Mann 68 Edition continuation cars, built as a direct extension of Ford’s 1968 British Touring Car Championship-winning programme.

Engineered from the exact geometry of the original works Escort and assembled by the same team name that created it, the car stands as a rare example of a continuation model grounded in genuine lineage rather than reinterpretation.

Built exclusively for the circuit and delivered in period-correct specification, it offers a direct connection to one of the most important touring car programmes of its era.
