Provenance..
The Sierra RS500 Cosworth represented the ultimate homologation evolution of Ford’s hugely successful Sierra RS Cosworth programme.
Developed to remain competitive under FIA Group A touring car regulations, the RS500 was produced in a limited run of 500 cars and converted from standard Sierra Cosworths by Aston Martin Tickford at their Bedworth facility.
These cars featured mechanical and aerodynamic developments that allowed Ford’s competition teams to unlock significantly greater performance in race trim. With upwards of 450bhp available in competition form, the RS500 quickly established itself as one of the most dominant touring cars of the late 1980s.
Chassis WF0EXXGBBEGG38995, now registered as E500 YBD, is a particularly well-preserved road example from this highly sought-after homologation series.
